In response to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine and the enemy's energy blackmail, the path to energy independence that Ukraine and the EU are pursuing is strategically important. One of the main components of this direction is the development of energy efficiency.
Unfortunately, the energy wars and crises unfolding in the world today are becoming perhaps the greatest stimulus to increase the demand for energy-efficient solutions. After all, this is one of the ways to optimize energy consumption and solve problems with ensuring society's access to energy.
The International Energy Agency (IEA) recommends continuing to increase the demand for energy saving measures.
"Energy efficiency measures will be implemented more quickly by focusing on increasing demand for energy efficient goods and services, as well as ensuring a higher level of market activity," reads the IEA's 3rd of 10 Strategic Principles for Energy Efficiency Development.
"Saving energy is the fastest and cheapest way to overcome the current energy crisis. Reducing energy consumption reduces the high bills of households and companies in the short and long term, as well as reduces imports of Russian fossil fuels, "- said in the plan" REPowerEU ", presented by the European Commission.
Ukraine continues to actively implement European directives, developing a legal basis for modern instruments in the field of energy efficiency. Among them - energy audit and implementation of energy management systems.
At the same time, various support programs are being implemented at both the state and local levels to stimulate the launch of projects in this area. For example, the Energy Efficiency Fund for condominiums, the energy service mechanism for the modernization of budget facilities, co-financing of energy efficiency measures from local budgets, etc.
Compliance with the requirements of the approved technical regulations on eco-design and energy labeling will contribute to the spread of the use of energy-efficient machinery and equipment in Ukraine.
